A glimpse of Heaven shown here on earth
Has left my heart inspired
Slow rolling hills and blue Texas skies
I recently admired

Its rocky red dirt features
The cactus and mesquite
With stars so bright they light the night
So majestic and complete

Each sunset the lonely coyotes
Sang me lullabies
& each morning God painted a new masterpiece
A colorful sunrise

Its rugged hard terrain
Hides soft pastures of green
And its sandy desert like coldness
Blooms with warmth of spring

The wild turkey and javelina
The quail and whitetail deer
Live in a spirit of freedom
In a oneness I now hold dear

Words can do no justice
To the peace that I found there
Someday I pray I will return
To the place so perfect and rare

Though I'm far away now
In the daydreams that I own
I find a soothing serenity
In a glimpse of Heaven shown
